At the time we are writing this, the country is still under a lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But if there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that life will get back to normal.
However, “normal” will be a relative term.
The fact is, certain hygiene measures will need to remain in effect until a vaccine is available. But, as the country slowly begins to reopen, how can you host an event that complies with social distancing, keeps your guests safe…and still allows everyone to have a blast?
At Aces Wild, the health and safety of our guests is paramount. So we’ve put together a guide for hosting events after COVID-19. Here are some steps you can take to make your guests feel (and stay) safe.
More Tables
Even in a digital age, casino parties rely on physical objects like tables, playing cards, and chips to make everyone’s favorite games available. But while a craps table packed with cheering guests was the pinnacle of fun back in January, the same scene is unthinkable now.
We advise creating a bit more “elbow room” by adding a few extra tables to your event. More tables means more space for your guests to spread out and abide by the “6-ft. apart” rule.

More Space
Of course, it doesn’t do much good to have extra tables if there’s nowhere to put them!
So consider changing either your venue or your guest list to allow for more square footage per person. If a venue typically holds 300, invite 100 instead. If you really want to have 300 people, opt for a space that can accommodate 600 or more. This will give people plenty of room to mill around, eat, play some games, and enjoy the entertainment without rubbing too many elbows.
But what if neither your venue nor your guest list can be changed? If this is the case, try to maximize the event area to prevent too many people from congregating. Place tables and other entertainment spots throughout the room (or even outside) to encourage guests to keep more distance between themselves and others.
This isn’t just safer, it’s a better way to see everything your party has to offer!
Hygiene
Good hygiene is essential when it comes to preventing the spread of disease…especially at a casino party, where so much of the fun depends on you touching chips and playing cards.
For the foreseeable future, Aces Wild will be placing hand sanitizer pumps at every table so that your guests have an opportunity to disinfect their hands frequently. (We recommend that guests sanitize between each station and any time they touch their face).
You may even find that some guests prefer to wear gloves or a mask for their own safety. Don’t be offended by this (our dealers will be wearing them too). In fact, lean into it! You may even consider changing the theme to “Face Mask-erade” and invite guests to wear their fanciest fabric face mask!
Food Tables
Part of throwing an authentic Vegas-themed event means having an amazing buffet spread. So far, experts believe that the coronavirus doesn’t survive well on food. But that doesn’t mean that food tables are always sanitary.
Protect against COVID-19 and other viruses by hiring attendants to dole out food at the buffet line and keep an eye on any potential points of contamination. When there is only one person touching a serving spoon or the salad tongs, it’s a lot less likely for germs to spread.
Additionally, ask your catering company to make the switch to disposable cups, plates, and cutlery and have guests to throw them away as soon as they are done eating or drinking. It might not be the best choice for the environment, but it’s the best way to ensure that diseases don’t spread.

Life will get back to normal, but it will probably happen slowly. Until there is a COVID-19 vaccine, social distancing and good hygiene are the best weapons we have against the disease.
